What this is

A site about UAP Disclosure that argues Disclosure will land as a nothingburger — not because nothing is happening, but because the culture absorbed the premise decades ago through folklore, fiction, religion, and eighty years of deferred revelation. When the announcement comes, most people will recognize the genre before the press conference ends.

That is an argument, not a fact, and it is labeled as an argument throughout.

What this is not

It is not a debunking site. The reflexive debunker and the reflexive believer make the same mistake from opposite directions: both decide first and check later. The debunker is simply duller about it.

It is also not a site that thinks the witnesses are lying. They are, overwhelmingly, not lying. Something happens to people. The question this site finds interesting is what that something is — and "a spacecraft" is one of the less interesting available answers, not because it is impossible, but because the alternatives turn out to be stranger.

The four labels

Every substantive claim here carries one of four status labels, and they are applied honestly even when the honest label is the boring one.

• DOCUMENTED — There is a primary source. A declassified report, a statute, an

official acknowledgment, a peer-reviewed paper. You can go read it.

• ALLEGED — Somebody said it, possibly under oath, possibly sincerely, and it has

not been independently substantiated. Testimony is evidence of testimony.

• CONTESTED — Serious people disagree, and the disagreement is not resolved by

anyone's confidence. The Patterson-Gimlin film lives here.

• DEBUNKED — The claim has been affirmatively refuted, not merely doubted. The

MJ-12 documents live here.

Presenting an ALLEGED claim as though it were DOCUMENTED is the single worst failure available on a site like this one, and it is the one this site works hardest to avoid.

How the research was done

Every section began as a research sweep against live sources, and every load-bearing claim was then handed to a separate, adversarial fact-checker whose instructions were to refute it. Claims that could not be confirmed against a retrievable source were dropped rather than hedged.

This is not decoration. In the first round of checking, roughly three out of four claims came back corrected rather than confirmed — wrong dates, figures that had drifted from their sources, and in one case a Senate statement described as sworn testimony when the witness was never sworn. All of that would have shipped without the gate.

The subject area has a fabrication problem in both directions: folklore repeats until it acquires a citation trail, and confident summaries invent sources that do not exist. So the standard here is that a claim needs a source somebody could actually pull.

Corrections

Found an error? It gets fixed. That is the whole editorial policy. There is no correction-request form to fill in and no adjudication process, because both of those are mostly ways of not correcting things.

If a date is wrong, a figure drifted, a person is mischaracterized, or a claim is carrying the wrong status label, say so and point at what the record actually shows. Corrections that come with a source get made quickly. Corrections that come without one get looked into anyway.

If you are one of the people written about on this site and you believe your entry is inaccurate or unfair, that correction goes to the front of the line.

A note on the people

The Rogue's Gallery covers living people. Its title is affectionate, not prosecutorial. Every entry uses the same four headings — Background, The Claim, The Record, The Question — because the symmetry is the fairest thing a site like this can offer: nobody gets a softer frame than anybody else, and nobody gets a harder one.

The record is listed. The questions are real questions. Nothing there is intended to make fun of anyone's ideas, and if a card reads that way, it is a defect and it will be fixed.
